Alumni: Central Coast Citizen of the Year

Alumni - Matthew Graham - Central Coast Citizen of the Year

This Australia Day, Central Coast Council named Olympic Skier and past CCGS student, Matthew Graham (2012) as its Citizen of the Year for 2020.

Matthew was one of 11 award recipients across eight categories.

In 2018 Matthew won silver for Australia in the Peyeong Chang Winter Olympics. In 2019 he won silver at the World Freestyle Mogul Skiing Championships in USA. He is now gearing up to represent Australia at a third Olympics in 2022.

Central Coast Mayor Lisa Matthews acknowledged the skier for giving back to his community. He often lends a hand to provide tutoring support where he is a true role model speaking with students about combining sport and study efficiently.

"Matthew often interrupts his own busy training schedule to inspire the next generation, encouraging students to pursue their passion for sport whilst also continuing their journey with education."

"This is a Coastie who practices what he preaches, not only is he at the top of his sport in the world he is currently completing a double degree in Civil Engineering and Business."

We are so proud of Matthew's achievements. Congratulations!
